How Middles Work on DFS Sites like Underdog and ParlayPlay: NFL Week 1 Entries

We’re still over a week away from Week 1 but most of the value is found now…in the days leading up to it. As we get closer and closer to kickoff, the sportsbooks and DFS sites will grow more and more confident in their lines and there will be less value available to sharp bettors like us.

Don’t be afraid to place bets well in advance of the game…if you don’t you’re just passing up on more value.

Now, let’s get into an example of a play I found on the OddsJam Fantasy Optimizer.

Nick Chubb Rushing Yards: Over 78.5 on Underdog, Under 92.5 Yards on ParlayPlay

1) I hit Chubb over 78.5 yards on Underdog Fantasy (ended up moving to 81.5).

2) I also hit Chubb under 92.5 yards on ParlayPlay.

Buy low, sell high.. It’s like buying a stock for $78.5 & selling it at $92.5. Here, if Chubb has 79 to 92 rushing yards, then we will win both plays. In sports betting, this is called a middle bet.

Once you start to think like a data-driven investor, you’ll make a lot more money sports betting!

Overall, I’m more confident in the Underdog side of this bet because as you can see on the screen above, other sites like PrizePicks and HotStreak have this total in the same ballpark as ParlayPlay, whereas Underdog is a huge outlier.

As a note, more is merrier in sports betting. Since all books set lines independently, you want to have as many sportsbook accounts as possible. You never know which book will have value (e.g. profitable bets) on a given day!
