New York Liberty vs. Chicago Sky: Game 2 Odds & Predictions
9:00 p.m. ET
Going into Game 2 of the Phoenix Mercury vs. Las Vegas Aces, a series that was already expected to be hugely one-sided, the Mercury now have another issue to contend with: starting guard Shey Peddy has ruptured her Achilles tendon and will be out indefinitely (with the expectation that she’ll likely miss all of next season as well).

In a series where the Aces were already favored, things are even more in their favor now – some books have the Aces as high as -3720 favorites. With that being the case, we certainly won’t be taking the moneyline, or even the spread, as it’s too inflated to be worthwhile.
Instead, we’ll be counting on the Aces to take their foot off the gas a little bit, with the knowledge that they won’t need to play their starters full minutes, and the Aces to not have enough offensive firepower to keep up.
While Peddy wasn’t the Mercury’s primary scorer (at only 9.9 PPG), there’s a clear drop-off between her averages and the next best player on that roster (Brianna Turner at 4.3 PPG). The Mercury already didn’t have the offense to compete with the offensive brilliance of the Aces, and with the loss of Peddy, that’s more true than ever.
We’ll be taking u166.5 Total Points for this one, available for -110 at BetMGM. Neither team should be expected to score at their usual level, and both teams will likely be looking to just get out of this series without any major injuries.
Any major injuries could affect their playoff run (in the case of the Aces) or their next season (in the case of both teams, but primarily the Mercury).
